Stories of success
Our members go on to do big things. Here’s a few stories of Entre alumni, who are making an impact out in the world.
Brianne West
Founder of Ethique
Brianne started Ethique as a poor university student, batch-making products in her kitchen. As a member of Entre, she quickly realised that she’d need to think a little bigger.
She entered the Enterprise Challenge and worked with a business mentor during the eight-week program, crafting a business plan. At the end of the competition, her mentor offered to invest and is still a business partner in Ethique today.
Guy Horrocks
Serial entrepreneur
Guy Horrocks’ career in tech started at UC when he won the 2006 Entre Entrepreneurial Award for his first start up, a company which used software to analyse blood splatter at crime scenes.
Guy went on to establish the world’s first iPhone app company, Polar Bear Farm, in 2007 before making the move to New York with his mobile agency Carnival Labs. Guy’s impressive CV includes clients like DreamWorks, Coca-Cola, CNN and Sephora, and his skills and expertise in growing digital businesses have led to his appointment as independent director at NZME and New Zealand Mint. Known for his ‘Flat White Meetups’ hosting Kiwi entrepreneurs in New York, Guy has recently been back in New Zealand with his most recent start-up, Solve, tackling customer data management.
Luke Campbell & Lucy Turner
Co-founders of VXT
Luke and Lucy were a part of the 2019 Start-up Challenge
They launched the first version of the VXT mobile app during the challenge in 2019 and were awards Best Pitch as well as crowned the Grand Winners of the competition. Today, they have thousands of users in Australia & New Zealand and are continuing to grow the business in NZ and around the world.
